Rooted Readers is an after school care and summer enrichments program for elementary-aged school kids in the Denver Metro area. The program brings together interactive storytimes and gardening activities through the lens of an individual's impact on nature and our planet.
Though not technically a native, Leah Rounds has lived in Colorado her whole life, and in Denver since 2002. Leah has a Bachelor’s in Environmental Policy, a Master’s in Library and Information Science, and has spent her career in various roles in Denver Public Schools: Teacher Librarian, parent volunteer, children’s book reviewer, community outreach coordinator, family liaison, and she led the process of starting a garden at her own kids’ neighborhood DPS school. Leah’s passion for books, the environment and gardening, culminated in her decision to create the after school enrichment program, Rooted Readers, in 2021. Leah continues to live in Denver with her husband and two children, though escapes to the mountains and trees as often as possible.
